This golden medallion from the Aztec calendar is art.

The Aztecs of ancient Mexico measured time using an elaborate and interconnected triple calendar system that was based on the movements of celestial bodies, included a comprehensive list of important religious festivals and sacred dates, and gave each day a unique combination of a name and a number.

The Aztec Sun Stone is the most famous work of Aztec sculpture. The stone is the product of a highly developed culture. On the back is a pyramid and a saying that refers to the Mayan prophecy of the Last Judgement. This prophecy was one of the driving forces behind the phenomenon of eschatological belief in 2012.

CHARACTERISTICS:

  • REPLICA ART - This coin is a replica and artistic interpretation of the art form known as the Hobo Nickel. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, hobos would alter the design of Buffalo Nickels to pass the time. This is a piece of Americana history.

  • CRAFTSMANSHIP - Each coin is machine minted and then electroplated to show you the golden shine and beautiful details. Due to the finishing process, each coin is a great example of craftsmanship.

  • DISPLAY READY - Each coin is shipped in a protective plastic bag and comes with an acrylic display stand that can showcase your coin on a shelf or other flat and level surface. The display stand is made of clear acrylic and sits approximately 1.65' tall.
